Hitler's Commando Order (Kommandobefehl in German) that was secretly distributed to high command, ordering that all irregulars (ie. commandos) captured be handed over to the Sicherheitsdienst (SD: intelligence arm of the SS) for interrogation and execution.

Used in common speech as a reference to eradicating a group of (usually valiant) people.

It has recently surfaced in popular culture in the George Lucas film Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, when Emperor Palpatine orders his Stormtroopers to "execute order 66", which is the instruction to kill all Jedi.

In a living arrangement that contains 3 lease holders in one household, it is predetermined that power is distributed equally into 33% per person. 66/33 is when two of the roommates start to date and their decision making process becomes parallel, making the power distribution 66% to 33%. This makes the third wheel in the household unable to win any argument against the couple. A 66/33 often results in the third party moving out, or being kicked out of said living arrangement due to being outnumbered.
Person 1: "Yeah, I just moved out of my apartment the other day."

Person 2: "Why is that?"

Person 1: "66/33, she was sleeping with my other roommate and they wanted it to be a 'couples' household."

This command was given by the Galactic Republic's Supreme Chancellor Palpatine to the Galactic Republic's Clone Troopers in Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Order 66 indicated that the Jedis have betrayed the Galactic Republic and therefore the enemies of the Galactic Republic, the Jedis who are now traitors of the Galactic Republic are later on immediately killed by the Clone Troopers on sight.

The number 6 is probably a reference to classic hexagram, which is something used to put a curse on someone, sort of like the targeting reticle of a gunner.
