A USMC drill instructor's favorite phrase to add onto every single sentence. It is extremely annoying. Drill Instructors must be taught to say this to recruits to annoy them because ALL OF THEM do it.
Drill Instructor: "We are stepping off to chow in two minutes, you understand me? Don't be the one that isn't done making their rack by then, you understand me? I will slay you if you are fucked up in any way once you walk out that hatch, you understand me?!"

'You wouldn't understand' refers to the meme: It's a _____ thing, you wouldn't understand.

It's a (insert anything you can think of: 'Person/First Name' 'Place/Jersey' 'Thing/Jeep') thing, you wouldn't understand. If you can think of it, it's been inserted into this meme.

The original phrase was "It's a black thing, you wouldn't understand". I could not find when it originated, but the earliest found it mentioned was in a book published in 1991 by Eugene Victor Wolfenstein, a social theorist and psychoanalyst, titled 'The Victims of Democracy: Malcolm X and the Black Revolution'.
It's a black thing, you wouldn't understand. It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand. It's an Anime thing, you wouldn't understand. It's a Jersey thing, you wouldn't understand. It's a browncoat thing, you wouldn't understand.

An understanding of a concept so strong that you have a disturbing understanding of it, no no no you don't get it like I mean someone can still know about it, but not know as much as you do, usually in a depressing "oh godi get it now" sort of manner, the more of this painful knowledge is amassed the worse ones mind becomes.
gary: oh god i understand.

This phrase is used for clarification, however it is commonly unnecessary. People using this phrase either show complete dominance over whomever they may be talking to OR if used incorrectly, this person will exemplify the definition of douche bag or tool.

The difference between correct and incorrect usage is very subtle and may depend on many variables such as delivery of the phrase (timing and vocal inflection), the person delivering the statement (the more nerdy/gay the worse), and the appropriate usage is important as well.
Correct Usage:

Me: "So Ryan, you need to wash your fucking dishes because the kitchen smells like shit... you understand that, right?
Ryan: "SIR YES SIR!"

Incorrect Usage:

Ryan (nerdy/high pitched voice and heavy breathing while simultaneously stuffing his face with Cheetos): "If you don't wash your hands before you eat you could contaminate the forks, dishes, and even the food! Oh my God that would totalllllly ruin supper, you understand that right?"
Me: "Shut the fuck up, pussy."
