A popular mp3 player created by apple (the computer company not apple records) witch recieves alot of criticism but manely this is only because many people dont use it properly.
the topic of little battery...: as with most rechargable batteries you need to occasionally completely run it out and leave it on charge for probably 10 hours plus (probably best idea is to put it on charge 12 hours before you get up in the morning and DONT USE IT). therefore the batterie on the next day will last as long as apple say it should.
the topic of too much space...: there are models (the ipod nano or shuffle for example) witch have little space on for the very reason that most people dont have 12 days worth of music and listen to it all (like someone like me does).
the topic of price...: basically your paying for what you get. its like anything, for example, a nice big house willcost more then a un nice small house wont it. your paying for size and quality.its a designer product of the mp3 world
and for the record of how long they last, ive had my 30 gig ipod now for about a year and a half and it hasnt failed me once because i know how to use it.

An expensive, overpriced, small mp3 playing device that can store a large capacity of mp3s. I'd find them useless, seeing as I can't even think of 1/10 the amount of songs you're able to put into it.

What people buy when they don't do research on mp3 players. I'll admit that it looks really cool and the Nano looks even cooler...but when you get down to it, the software is inferior and it limits the things you can do with your music. You can only sync it with itunes and that deletes songs off the ipod that aren't in itunes anymore and you can't transfer the music from the ipod to another computer.
About 90% of suburban high school students use ipods. They didn't go with what made sense, but with what was trendy...which is okay for some people.

Personally, I think there are many better mp3 players of there, like, I dunno, the Creative Zen! Like many other people said, it will hold more songs than anyone will hear in their life. I think the new introduction of videos was, quite possibly, the dumbest thing ever invented. Why the hell would you watch full length movies on tiny little screens, when you can hook up, say, a Creative Zen, to the T.V. and watch your movies. No, Creative isn't paying me to say that, I just own one, and they are about 4,397 times better than an Ipod.

A horrible invention that lets the user run around in circles to find their mtv-endorsed favorite song of the week. High points are freezing at the best times (ie, study hall, long car rides, etc.), ugly design, and hard to use operating system.

An overpriced mp3 player marketed by Apple that has a crappy battery and is marketed profusely on the Internet and TV. Ipods are commonly bought by ignorant people who fail to see the advantages of buying lower priced, higher quality alternatives that have better audio quality and battery life.

Hard drive mp3 player whose only pro is it's esthetic design. However, feature and accessory wise, it lacks. Other hard drive mp3 players such as the Iriver "H" series drive it to the ground, with features such as video playback, fm radio, digital recording via a built in mic etc.
