- I get nickeled and dimed when people send me a text message and I can't figure out whether it was sent to me specifically or a whole list of people. So, I don't know whether I answer it or not, since if it was sent to a whole list of people, the sender will think I'm a complete idiot.

See dime. A nickel and dime store is a group of mixed dimes and non-dimes, i.e. attractive and unattractive people.
