NPD is a medical acronym for a condition known as Narcissistic Personality Disorder. This condition may affect one person differently than how it would affect another, but some of the most common symptoms are as follows: Making themselves seem superior while others would say it's for no good reason at all, fear of being criticized, denied, or rejected, entitled to achieving a goal in ways which may put others at a disadvantage, always showing off their appearance while refusing to appreciate others over theirs, doing what pleases them instead of anything else, gossiping, being self-secure, etc.

Unfortunately, it may be sort of complicated for health professionals to help some with NPD tackle this since they may reject aid or (without stereotyping) deny that they have this condition.
It's been said that if you can label someone as being the popular kid at school, they might have NPD. However, that depends on a variety of circumstances. Also depending on such circumstances, one may even see one as being a bully among peers.

Which reminds me, have you ever seen those narcissistic personality disorder gurus on the internet who teach people about narcissists? They're an odd bunch that's for sure...
Hym "Yeah, the NPD Gurus never seem like normal, well adjusted people. And I'm a psychopath so I have a pretty good sense of these things. They're often (seemingly) cold and dispassionate people. A lot of them have some kind of psychology background but they (at the very least) seem to show some of the more subtle traits of NPD. I imagine that psychology would be an attractive field of study for a narcissist. Just look at Dr. Jeepjorp. Or even Dr. Sam Vaknin (who is, himself, someone with narcissistic personality disorder). And it could be that (in the spirit of Simon Baron-Cohen's work) that these NPD Gurus are victims of narcissistic abuse and have, therefore, gone through the process of empathy erosion that is associated with narcissistic abuse. Either way, they are fascinating to watch. Most of them remind my of Dr. Vaknin himself. Which would make sense because, according to Dr. Jeepjorp Peepeestones, narcissism is a temperamental configuration and is the result of being low in agreeableness and conscientiousness and high in extroversion and, thus, would support the conclusion that they (The NPD Gurus) at the very least show like a someone with NPD. And this isn't intended to derogate them. They seem like the types that would make great cult leaders. And we all know how much I love cults."
