Aromantic(aro) is the lack of romantic attraction. Someone who is Aro isn’t inherently Asexual. An Aro person can be bisexual aromantic or aroace. Aros still experience platonic, aesthetic, and sensual(not to be confused with sexual) attraction.

An aromantic (often shortened as aros) is an individual who experiences little to no romantic attraction to any person of any gender. The aro culture is represented by a flag with 4 horizontal stripes, black, grey, white and green. You might find many wearing white rings on their left middle finger as a symbol of their aromanticity. The aromantic community often overlaps with the asexual community and they share many values.

It can be hard to understand aromanticity without being able to defferentiate between platonic, sexual and romantic attraction, so I'll explain that first!

Platonic attraction: The desire to be friends with someone, no more.

Romantic attraction: This is the desire to be in a romantic relationship with someone, this does not include sex or intimacy. Only the wholesome parts of your typical relationship, like dates, kissing, handholding, loveletters ect.

Sexual Attraction: Sexual attraction is the desire to have sex with someone, simple as that.

Now that you know the difference, here are some variations of aromanticity:

Repulsed Aromantic: These are Aros who want absolutely nothing to do with romance.

Greyromantic: People who experience very little romantic attraction, or only feel it under certain curcumstances.

Demiromantic: Only feel romantic attraction after a strong emotional bond is formed.

Aromantic Asexuals: Aromantics who don't feel sexual or romantic attraction.

Note that aros can still have romance and aces can still have sex.
Examples:

(Tom) Hey that guy over there is hot, I'd love to hook up.
(Harry) I thought you were aromantic?
(Tom) Yeah, but I'm a gay aromantic, I just don't feel the emotional connection. I still feel sexual attraction though.

(Guy over there) Haha, you can't get in my pants anyway, I'm asexual and aromantic!

Not experiencing romantic attraction. Not the same as being asexual, which means experiencing no sexual attraction. Aromantics can still be in a romantic relationship, they just do not experience an attraction towards their parter.
Kam does not want a romantic relationship. They are aromantic.

To have no romantic attraction, not to be asexual, which is no sexual attraction. An aromantic person is not nessicarily asexual.
Guy: Why did José have sex with me but not call me back?
Girl: *shrugs* Maybe he's aromantic...?

Someone who experiences Little To No Romantic Attraction, there’s a wide Aro spectrum.

Some Aro’s can feel romantic attraction in some circumstances and others cannot feel it at all, either way they’re all valid.

Also I’d like to add that Aromanticism is Not a sexual orientation. It’s a romantic orientation, I often see people calling it a sexual orientation when it isn’t (Aromanticism is not related to sexual things.)

A good place to learn more about it is a website called AUREA Aromantic because they have a wide variety of definitions and even a Frequently Asked Questions section for anyone.
Person 1 “Have you heard about Aromanticism?”

Person 2 “No, what is Aromanticism?”

Person 1 “It’s a romantic orientation where someone feels little to no romantic attraction, there’s a wide spectrum too!”

Person 2 “That’s pretty interesting, does it have any other names?”

Person 1 “Yup!, some people shorten it to Aro or Aromantic”

Person 2 “Thank you for the information!”

Person 1 “You’re welcome, also Aromantic Spectrum Awareness week is from the 20th of February till the 26th of February”

People who may experience sexual attraction, but not romantic attraction to others

The green, white, gray, and black flag has gone through several designs. Its first version came from an unknown source and had four green, yellow, orange, and black stripes. The second layout of the flag had five stripes that were dark green, light green, yellow, gray, and black. It was created by the Tumblr user @cameronwhimsy. Cameron is also credited with creating the third and final design, which uses a white stripe instead of a yellow one.
