A summer gathering place for many tourists especially Calgary and Vancouver. A town over run with developers, and too many condos. Canada's only desert, known for lakes, vineyards, fruit and many retirees.

Many Quebec and Mexican workers come to pick fruit and do farm work every spring/summer.

First Nations originally named this area 'Soyoos'. This means 'the narrows' meaning narrowing of the water. Osoyoos lake has a very narrow area where a bridge divides the town.

Later, some jerk came along and decided to add an O to the name Soyoos. Now it's called Osoyoos. Some suspect it might have something to do with having to match neighboring town 'Oliver' or the area 'Okanagan.'
