stepcore

A form of extreme-hardstyle electronic music that takes the most intense elements from all forms of EDM. Stepcore is usually mixed at around 910 BPM, comprising of a beat made up of only severely distorted kick drums (and maybe a few Pryda Snares here and there-usually off tempo). It should be noted that when producing stepcore, all basses should use modern talking, and be loaded with soundgoodizers and sausage fatteners. Most stepcore songs are mastered so that all output meters are clipping. This provides the nice, heavily distorted sound that all good stepcore songs have.

A sub-genre of Hardcore Techno that utilizes extremely fast beats coupled with layers of harsh sounds and warped vocal samples.

Speedcore as a genre starts its beats off in the high 200 BPM and can result in tunes reaching a 1000 BPM and more. The faster and harsher sounds are often labelled as 'Ultra Speedcore'.

Speedcore has cousins in Terrorcore, Noizecore and Gabba. It has also spawned a further sub-genre, commonly known as Extratone.

Some excellent examples of the different types (speed rates) of Speedcore include -

ANC - Terrorklaenge
DJ Noisekick VS Kerberos - 666 BPM
Hellz Army - Doomed (DJ Tense)
Komprex - The Centrifuge Anthem
TerrorMasta - BrainBrainBrainBrain
Speedcore isn't music, it's extreme noise.

A word used by the band Alesana to describe their music.

Similar to heartcore.
From Feb./Mar. '07 issue of AMP magazine:

(Drew Ailes, intervewer) For anyone who may be unfamiliar with the band, can you give me a brief description of your sound?
(Shawn Milke, vocals/guitar/piano) Well, we call ourselves "sweetcore." We came up with that term because we thought it was the best way to describe how we bring the heavy end of music and the softer end of music together without using as generic of a term as emocore or something like that. So many bands are throwing around terms like that and other typical genre terms and we really feel that we're pushing the envelope a little bit and needed a new term out there for us.

A musical style which focuses mainly on speed and noisy samples, is often also very chaotic in sound, pop listeners should not listen to this kind of music.

Too emo to be hardcore, too hardcore to be emo.
1. That band is completely sweetcore!

2. You're not emo, you're not hardcore, you're not metalcore, you're sweetcore.

3. That screamo band is sweetcore.

After Kerrigan got insanely stoned and lit his pants on fire, he said it was sweetcore.
