EAST SIDE SAN JOSE-From the East Hills, down to Yerba Buena High School. From Berryessa rd, down to Silver Creek. East Side San Jose is just east of down town, some people consider it across from 101 highway, but they're wrong. East Side San Jose is a Latino, Phillipino, and Vietnamese cultured neighborhood. It is the most active neighborhood out of all of San Jose due to its higher crime rate. Even though the east side may look a little slumpy, it is full of beautiful Latin and Asian culture that is blinded by the street gangs, and grafitti. East Side San Jose has a long history, it was home to CESAR CHAVEZ, the revolutionary Chicano speaker, and riots that occured back in the 60's. Today, East Side San Jo is run by Nortenos, crips, Surenos. East Siders take pride in where they came from, and what theyre representing, no matter how bad things get. East Side San Jos my home, and I'll never forget it..

(East side San Jose) A hood in San Jose, CA thats mostly full of hispanic/latin Race. Most of it is ghetto but in evergreen, its mostly rich people. the major gang in essj is Norte(Northerner x4, xiv, 14), then followed by Sur(southerner, x3, xiii, 13, sur), crips and the rest is crew gangs. The heart of Essj is Story rd and King rd which is the ghetto'est part of San Jose.

ESSJ is also a program/academy within James Logan High School (Union City, SF Bay Area), founded by Ivan Viray Santos.

"ESSJ seeks to educate our scholars within a holistically humanizing space that centers voices of the young scholars in the classroom, as well as the voices of BIPOC communities, their ancestors, allies, and co-conspirators in order to develop critical consciousness lens during their educational experience. I wouldn't be who I am with ESSJ and the support of Santos, it has sparked my passion for activism and taught me that we're all capable of making change in this world.
