avalanche

Noun
Occurs when you are chatting in a text message box in any IM format and you or the other person lags, the person or persons you are speaking to appears to have completely stopped talking or have DC/ed, then suddenly all of their last series of lines come scrolling up on the screen in rapid succession like an avalanche. Hence the name.

While I was IMing Killer last night I thought he was dead or asleep because he hadn't responded to my last five lines but then suddenly, I got an avalanche of his 20 lost responses.

Awkward Turtle

A word used to discribe the gesture made by your hands after a line or series of lines have been spoken that have now resulted in an uncomfortable silence. The person executing the "Awkward Turtle" is basically, jerking there hands around in rougly the shape of a turtle, unable to speak. And silence ensues

The evening was going smoothly until Merc had to go and tell us his dad used to lock him in a closet when he was bad. Silence ensued. Darrow began to make the "Awkward Turtle" with his hands, and the rest of us stared anywhere but at Merc.

glean

To understand what someone is saying, to follow something someone said, or a concept that is being put forth. Similar words include gleaned and gleaning.

I glean that 2+2=4
I can't glean a single thing that moron was saying.

air talking

To continue to speak to someone when they are either disconected from the internet or cell phone. To speak to the air.

Dammit Kez disconnects so much I spend more time air talking then I do talking to him!
