I have just gone through many versions of bibles and researched this word thoroughly; And from my research I can only deduce that there was as place called Sodom. In Sodom there were 'sodomites'. Sodomites from my deduction were men who had wives who wove tapestries of Asherah. So thus, sodomites were people/culture who worshiped Yaweh and Asherah. All references I have found speak of pushing the 'sodomites' out of the area. Destroying their idols. Sodomy could thus then be deduced to, the act of worshiping and practicing the cultural lifestyle of those who's culture was one of those who believed in the old god Yaweh and his wife Asherah.

My thought on this is that sodomites were possibly a tribal like people who created idol's of Yaweh and their gods which they believed in. It speaks of the women creating 'tents'. The books honestly speak of how all the 'sodomites' being driven from the lands, and their idols being destroyed. Getting rid of in one way or another the culture of people who believed in "Yaweh" and "Asherah". Sounds like it was a religous war, which resulted in the destruction of a people.

It's completely ridiculous to think that 'sodomy' (The practice of worshiping Yaweh & Asherah, -or- those who practice cultural beliefs of 'sodomites'.) means 'anal sex' -or- 'gay sex'. Look it up yourself.

'Sodomy' isn't even a word mentioned in the Old King James -or- Darby's translation (which is a translation of the original)
Christians persecuted the sodomites, destroyed their lives, demolished the idols they built and were dead-set on not allowing any other religions to be practiced. Anyone who practiced sodomy were either killed or driven from the lands along with their wives; As they were NOT going to allow those who believe in "Yaweh" -and- "Asherah" live in their domain.

Get the Sodomy mug.
A description given to describe evil thoughts, bad thoughts common to all people. To describe anger/rage/depression.

It's like as if, when you have a bad day, and you're angry, or life just isn't working out and you feel like harming yourself. Or you have thoughts of tricking people, being mischievous for your own gain from their loss. Just thoughts in general most would wish they didn't / shouldn't have.

When consumed by the aforementioned thoughts the word Satan was given to describe that sometimes over-whelming feeling. Everyone has those thoughts and feelings at some point or another.

When you're just 'filled' with that anger, you could almost describe it like something entered you, you weren't yourself. Satan was the name given to that fictitious entity. At least in the books of 'Job, Matthew, Mark, Luke'. Some of the other books seem to take him as a literal / physical entity. The whole definition of it seems to become skewed throughout the passages referencing it.

It's just human beings having evil thoughts, thinking of doing bad things; Not wanting those thoughts, as a form of coping with those thoughts, they gave it a name, and that name is Satan.
I stubbed my toe, then Satan entered me, I felt really angry, wanting to destroy that table. Satan tempted me to do it! But after the pain receded, Satan had left and I was no longer angry and glad I didn't break my table.
