Driftmourning

The quiet, often unspoken grief that comes from the slow fading of a once-close relationship. A sense of emotional loss for someone who is still alive, but no longer present in your life in the way they once were. Not caused by a single event, but by time, distance, changing priorities, or unhealed hurt.
“I didn’t realise how much I was still driftmourning my friend until I heard their voice in a group chat and felt like a stranger.” “We didn’t fall out, we just stopped talking. I still think about them all the time. I guess I’m driftmourning.”
