The advertising slogan/strap line of German automaker Audi.

Often heard at the end of 1980s-era Audi commercials and cleverly adapted to suit the theme of the ad.

"Vorsprung Durch Technik, Durch Technik as they say in New York, New York"

Example 2 - Audi 100 commercial set around a German violinist:

Vorsprung Durch Technik 

German for 'Progress through technology'. Apparantly.

'Vorsprung Durch Technik' wasn't on UD so I googled a definition and added it.

Vorsprung Durch Technik 

German for "Audi, sort-of kicking BMW ass since time immemorial". Also used to annoy Mercedes owners, in cocktail conversations.

Note that to drivers/owners of non-German cars, the phrase is a non-starter.

(...in traffic driving an Audi R8 )

: (honking) "Hey there mate!"

: (said "mate" looks across from his scheißeboxen, aka bmw )

: "Vorsprung Durch Technik, biatch >:E" (speeds away, at infinity mph)
