For example, in a credit default swap (CDS), the buyer is someone who needs insurance against the possibility that a borrower will default on a loan. In that case, the counterparty is whoever receives the CDS premiums, and pays out in the event of default.

The purpose of financial options is to minimize risk to the buyer; therefore, it creates potentially lucrative opportunities for the counterparty, because the counterparty takes on so much risk.

The act of a jewish person doing something that goes agaist the traditional jewish sterotype.

For example: if a jewish man offered to pay for everyone's meal, that would be counterinjewitive.

Countenance is another outdated word for someone's facial expression. This word is often found in nineteenth century novels. It has absolutely nothing to do with anyone's genitals.

A: Look at Pickford's countenance. He's looking really stoned/wacked out on weed today.
B: I agree. He couldn't have a more drugged up mien. His physiognomy looked very pallid as he was dragged out of the morgue last night.

When you hear someone near you fart and you blast out a much louder and more powerful fart in retaliation.

You walk in to wake your son up in the morning and hear him fart....you blast out the counterfart in return....son laughs "Ah Dad you won with that counterfart!"
