A strong, existential hatred or distaste for the state of things, how things must be, or how things turn out to be, in the
world we live in.
From Greek “katástasi”, meaning “state”, and “miso”, meaning “hate”.
Those who adopt a misostatic worldview are often seen as “negative nancies” or “debbie downers”, when in
reality, they’re just acknowledging how the
world actually is; a predominantly negative place.
Considering how harsh
reality can be, the misostasy in his arguments is more than justified.
Example:
Person 1: Man, I absolutely hate how most
people are statistically more likely to become corporate slaves than celebrities. I think I’m going to become a misostatist.
Person 2: You
mean a pessimist?
Person 1: Nah, pessimists are needlessly negative, unlike misostatists.
