unconvicted rapist / sexual predator
Originates from Quechua - "Vab Chau" which is translated as "One who goes against humanity" - This term started to be utilized during the Cenepa War, and the word gained a meaning of somebody using violence on women and children, or somebody who acted against the Geneva convention as a whole.
After the war had ended, the members of the
Truth and Reconciliation Commission morphed the meaning to "rapist" or "predator" and the word became part of their slang. This spread across most
latin american countries in
2017 with the "Me Too" movement, fighting against sexual harrasment, and citizens of countries with corrupt governments often started using this word to mark officials that were known for such crimes. The word resurfaced in 2024 due to the talk about epstein files, because some
people think they are not being released to protect powerful
people that would be condemned by them.
