A community so small that the residents would have to dig a "hole in the road" to get any passing cars to stop. Usually associated with roadside stands and occasionally cheesy "tourist" attractions like the frequently seen "Mystery Spot".
On the way here we stopped at this little hole in the road and picked up some peanuts. You can have them, they ain't worth a damn. Poorfolks haven't seen a swinging dick stop by all day.

A Shackteau is a humble, weather-beaten, structurally questionable shelter located in a spectacular or highly coveted place—Wales, Jackson Hole, Sun Valley, Crested Butte, coastal Maine, the Alps—where the building itself may be worth almost nothing, but the dirt, view, access, and mythology make it absurdly valuable.
