before i begin...i've noticed alot of mean and sarcastic people writing definitions for what a scene kid is and even tho they have gotten alot of it right(i.e tight pants,hair,obsessions w/myspace and dinosaurs,etc...)they all seem to think that we(yes, i am a scene girl) are a big secret club of assholes.and although we do have a tendancy to be an exculsive bunch i cant help but wonder if all you people who are dissing us have been hurt by the fact that their local group of scenesters has rejected their attempt to be included as part of the group,therefore causing said asshole to type up these kinds of definitions (here and on myspace) in jelous rage.
also i'd think that they are the same types who put up anti-scene groups and probably some anti-emo groups because these individuals usually cant tell the difference.
ANYHOO...
scene boy:
(aka my typical boyfriend/friend/friends boyfriend)
-black hair including/not limited to a chunk of random color(usually blonde or red...sometimes blue)
-wears make-up(optional,but very hott)
-tight pants or gym shorts if into the hardcore scene as well
-must attend shows and is known at all local venues as a regular or as part of a band.
-tight shirts to show off sexy skinny-ness
-must date cute/pretty/sexy scene girl
-piercings are a plus

scene girl
(aka me/friends/friends girlfriends)
-choppy black/blonde hair
-into vintage and frequents goodwill or vintage stores
-cuts own hair and friends hair(or at least says that she does)
-cutoff jeans with or without patches on them
-animal prints,stripes and polka dots
-bows and ribbons and baby hair clips
-hearts and stars
-eyebrows pierced,ears,lips,nose or a marylin.any combination of each or just one.none is ok but rare
-dates scene boys.(or punk rockers/emo kids/hardcore boys)

both =
have myspaces.
have a very large music collection.
frequent shows/record stores.
have shopped at hottopic (even if they dont admit it).
use cute catch phraises.

The definition of a scene kid ranges from a badly viewed individual to a narcissistic cunt. My definition is unbiased and only states the facts i believe to be true. A person in their teens who's distorted view on society has them crushed into a style that was once known as the alternative, but has now become bland and unoriginal. they are non-conforming conformists. Seemingly unable to invent anything for themselves, stealing the ideas and traits of the true originals in society, claiming them as their own, and changing the ideas so that it no-longer holds it's first intention. it is a known fact that if you should confront a scene kid to him/her, he/she will take one of two actions, he/she will either deny being a scene kid or point out the hypocrisy in what you say to them. In this sense, some one does not need to look or think any certain way to be considered scene. As long as the commit these actions, they can be described as scene. I am self-aware enough to, not only admit the hypocrisy, but to also understand it. I know that I'm not the pinnacle of original thinking, and I'd be stupid to think so, but these people don't seem to have to capacity to invent and create. they constantly use up their time, money, and energy to look like each other instead of breaking themselves out of the mold they've made. In a strange twist of fate, they have become what they originally rebelled against! The Alternative of the Alternative, ironic isn't?

Hottopic is a store who's main consumers are scene kids.

An even more depressing form of emo kid conformity, know by their hair cuts which swoop in front of their eyes, scarfs, arm warmsers, nose and/or lip rings, girl pants, etc. A good general rule of thumb when trying to tell whether it is a scene kid or emo, if you have to ask wether it is a boy or girl its a scene kid.

deriving from the classification of "Emo," usually a good hearted, stylish looking guy or girl who listens to actually really good music that no one has ever heard of. Just because you haven't heard about the band doesn't mean everyone hasn't heard about the band.

Suck it up an let posers be posers and scene kids be scenes...as long as it doesn't screw with your head then you shouldn't worry about it.

I am scene, and i have a lot of scene friends, and if you get to know them better instead of being judgement you'll get to see that they are really nice people.

Contrary to popular belief, the scene refers to the music scene. One can not be scene. How ever, one may be a PART of the scene. Kids who are part of the scene attend shows and support bands that are not commonly listened to, as in hardcore or even electronica. It is often refered to as a way of dressing or hair type. The ONLY reason people think it is a way of dressing is because kids who listen to hardcore music instead of lil' jon, rihanna, or whatever else is cliche, started dressing differently. It is just like the confusement of "emo". Emo is an abbreviation for emotive hardcore. It was an uncommon genre of music and it reached it's peak in about the late eighties, early nineties. It almost completely died out by the end of the nineties. Bands like Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Hawthorne Heights, etc. are far from emotive hardcore and are actually Pop Punk. Most people are tards and are too stubborn to believe the truth. Therefore, ignorance becomes widespread.

wow. you guys who have all this hate just dont really know any scene kids. you might look at them and be like wow look at that faggot omg hes wearing tight jeans. well at least he actuaally follows something he might like and not that everyone else likes. ya im somewhat scene soo keep talking all of this shitt and do something else with your life. get to know a scene kid or more than one. even if they wear heavy eyeliner girl jeans straighten their hair, their hair is 1 2 3 4 5 6 colors most of them are down to earth execpt the few that nobody likes
