The scientific concept that actions and decisions made during one's lifetime can change the genetics you pass on to your children. These different genetics can change such things in offspring such as likelihood of obesity, diabetes, and the length of their life.
An example of epigenetics is: Men who smoked during or before puberty had sons that had increased BMI when compared to those children who had fathers that did not smoke during that time.
