A "sunny south" offshore resort-area in Hyde County, North Carolina. The area is famous known for its gumbo-dishes and serving copious deluges of "The Real Thing" to wash it all down.
I've never been much for gumbo or carbonated beverages, so I wouldn't really have special reason to visit Okracoke Island as far as the culinary delights are concerned. I hear that the locals are welcoming and the area has several nice lighthouses, though, so I suppose I might make a trip there to check out those delightful amenities.
