Lexapro (Escitalopram) is an antidepressant drug from a class of drugs known as the Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor used to treat Major Depressive Disorder and General Anxiety Disorder. Lexapro was derived from the SSRI Celexa (Citalopram) in 1997 by Forest and Lundbeck Pharmaceuticals because the patent on Celexa was expiring. Neither drugs are derivitives of Prozac (Fluoxetine), though the drugs belong to the same class.

Lexapro is an SSRI antidepressant used for major depression and anxiety. It can be very useful when combined with other medications like Propranolol, Modafinil, Depakote, and more. Lexapro is escitalopram. It's stronger than Citalopram. 5mg of Lexapro plus other medications is good. It makes you happy. Lexapro; Selegiline; and D,L Deprenyl are way better than that Zoloft crap!
Tony: I took 5mg of Lexapro and Propranolol and other medications for depression and anxiety. I feel happy! They’re grrreeat!

An SSRI that like many others, carry great risk of sexual side effects, fatigue and weight gain. Has fewer side effects than Prozac generally, but Prozac makes you lose weight in the beginning.
I took Lexapro for 6 months and gained 15 pounds even though I was eating less and exercising. wtf
