social distancing chicken

When people walking toward each other on a sidewalk deliberately refuse to alter their paths in a game of chicken, usually resulting in one party stepping aside at the last minute to avoid violating social distancing boundaries.
When our eyes met from behind our masks, I knew we were about to play social distancing chicken.

Social distancing

What you claim to do when someone is into you, but you want to avoid them and not be rude.
Sorry I can't hang out tonight, I'm actually practicing social distancing.

Social Distancing

Politically correct (aka Newspeak) term for "physical distancing". You're not actually distancing yourself socially. Social distancing is actually distancing yourself from society and being less social. We're not doing that here in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
"Social Distancing" is a term that sounds so cringeworthy and almost politcally euphemistic.

graceful distancing

breaking up without the traditional negative actions and emotions of anger, jealousy, rage, depression, down-rapping the ex, burning things they left at your house, calling up the new gf/bf and screaming at them. Breaking up without sacrificing the friendship.

A friendly uncontested divorce - where the individuals do not need lawsuits and TROs - is an example of graceful distancing.
My husband Jim and I are graceful distancing, but we are not divorced yet. He moved out without any screaming or blaming. We are still friends.

We split the weekends with the kids. We both go to parent teachers conferences. We each kept our retirement accounts. I asked for child support but no alimony.
We still do Thanksgiving & Christmas and birthdays together with the kids, and we have talked about integrating our new lovers next year.

Social distancing "x"

The "x" placed on the floor of banks and stores in the wake the covid19 Corona virus pandemic of the year 2020. It is usually tape and spaced 6 feet apart to minimize the spread of the virus.
Get your ass on that social distancing "x" or a store employee who thinks he's the police/security will remove you from the establishment.

Staying at home

Creative Distancing

During the COVID-19 pandemic, ways to see your friends or family members who don’t live under your roof either one-on-one or in groups whether it be standing or sitting 6 feet apart from each other and not moving from that spot, meeting in cars in the parking lot, walking or riding bikes together on opposite sides of the street, or holding exercise classes in the street. It is different from rationalized distancing because the people doing it think they are clever and beating the system. They don’t need to explain themselves. However, according to MIT research “mucus and saliva can burst from a person’s mouth at nearly a hundred miles an hour and travel as far as 27 feet.” This method of distancing is flawed, selfish, and breaks all social distancing rules
Those 10 kids who met in the parking lot and practiced creative distancing by staying in their cars all have COVID and gave it to their entire families.
