System of a Down

A band with one of the most unique music styles ever, mixing Middle-Eastern and Armenian with Metal. Sometimes the music is calm, sometimes its angry and sometimes its crazy (like the song "Johnny"). Usually they scream a lot and then go calm, probably because their throats hurt.

There is meaning to System of a Down's lyrics, listen to "Boom!" and "Chic n' Stu" (though I doubt most of you droids couldn't interpret that song).

A band whose musical influence hail from Armenia. Their lyrics are open to interpretation and speak of politics, religion and experiences. System of a Down's lyrics are subject to debate because they rely heavily on interpretation *1. As is their music, although the basic chords and repetitive nature contributes well towards emphasis and overall catchiness of the song *2. Their music cannot be easily categorised with "fellow" bands Slipknot and Korn. Despite popular belief, their music fluctuates from song to song, depending on the theme ("Mind" to "Roulette". They are atheists and on the whole against the way that the world is governed. Such popular songs include "Chop Suey" and "Toxicity." Their name derives from a poem called "Victims of a Down"

Very intellectual and talented, System of a Down is one of the most unique sounds to hit Nu-Metal. Unlike Korn or Slipknot, System has the ability to write AND play their own music, with complete and utter talent.

All four members are of Armenian heritage and speak loudly of the unspoken Armenian Genocide of the late 1800's and early 1900's. They are heavily influenced by their roots and many other styles of music, and always open to new ideas.

A freaking awesome band. Their lyrics dont make sense half of the time unless u think about them. Their political views are great as everyone has stated, but nobody gave an example. The lyrics to "Prison Song" are incredibly true.

Let's get right to the point. Even though every single one of them are going to hell, their music is the BEST. Heavy metal band that is enjoyed by EVERYONE. The screaming and heavy instrument playing is simple amazing.
