consider the source

another way of saying that any information recieved from a certain source can't be taken seriously because that source has been wrong before, or lacks credibility.

"hey did you hear Elvis is still alive?? he was seen at a casino in vegas last week! actually they say he's even the owner!!"

"get out! where'd you hear that from?"

"oh I read it in the enquirer."

"hah! I should have known."

"what, you mean you don't believe it??"

"are you kidding?? I mean, come on...consider the source already!"

rug rider

derogatory term for a person of Middle Eastern/East Indian descent.

"The downtown cabbies all seem to be rug riders these days."

stereo

When two people say the same word or phrase simultaneously during a conversation (usually by coincidence), the word "stereo" would then be uttered immediately by one or both parties to acknowledge this phenomenon.

no real example here, just remember to say "stereo!" the next time you and someone else you are speaking with inadvertently say the same thing at the same time.

passing fancy

a novelty that captures the attention of the general public for a relatively brief period, until either people lose interest in it, or the next "big thing" comes along.

also, an infatuation or a temporary but intense emotional attachment toward an individual.

Just as the hoola hoop of the late 1950s, so too did the Rubiks Cube prove to be a passing fancy after it was introduced in the early 1980s.

I suppose Sue's brief relationship with Tim was just a passing fancy for her, as she's since returned to her husband.

mental midget

a person who is narrow-minded or has limited knowledge or insight to anything outside his or her immediate life.

basically someone who lacks education or higher thought.

I tried to start a conversation about Hapsburg Europe with that hot looking babe at the party who is supposedly a history major.
turns out she's just another mental midget, since all she talked about was her ex boyfriend Diego and her Mary Kay cosmetics collection!

freedom of the sea

single; unattached (and usually happy about it); the ability to date and/or sleep with whoever you want, whenever you want and have multiple sexual partners.

(derived from the expression "there are plenty of fish in the sea").
