Similar to a Non-Player-Character, a Matrix Agent is a person or persons who seem or act as though 'programmed' to respond or behave in scripted ways. Unlike an NPC, the Matrix Agent connotation implies some cognizant understanding of their simulated world, while nonetheless believing in that world and following their programming within it.
