General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade.

Created at the 1944 Bretton Woods meetings in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, as a plan for post-WWII economic recovery. Often referred to as GATT 1947.

Ignoramus above seems to think that Bill Clinton signed the GATT, which "led to" the creation of the WTO. He is misleading us at best. Bill Clinton signed an updated VERSION in 1994 (GATT 1994) that was also adopted by 74 other nations. GATT 1994 didn't "lead to" the creation of the WTO; rather, it created the WTO.

Absolutely not to be mistaken (as the rest of these definitions imply) with a gat, which is slang for a gun. You should investigate this yourself, as I by no means claim expertise on the issues and intricacies of the gat.
At least people who think Bill Clinton is a shithead for signing the GATT 1994 aren't playing the Monika Lewinsky card. They should also look into what Bill had to say about the crisis in Rwanda.

compare with:

I wuh finna buss out mah gat, but then it occured to me that I don't own any such thing, so I got back into my Mom's Honda Odyssey and she promptly took me to soccer practice.
