It is not a disease, a disability, or a disorder, it is actually an ability. It is not the symptom of taking things literally and it is not a stereotype in any way, nor is it necessarily quirky. I was myself diagnosed with Asperger's which is a type of autism, it is not an illness and it is not crazy, mad or insane, and must be celebrated as such. An example of autism is misunderstanding what another autist says to them in the lines of something very complicated when it is simply not the case at all, or forming subjective opinions when in time you will realize that it is all true with everything the autist just said.
