A classification for legendary and great metal and rock bands and musicians who had immeasurable influence and wrote top notch music, bands and artists who rose about their peers to the top of the class and the top of the rock pantheon.

Without a doubt, Blizzard of ozz was a great band led by that A-leaguer Randy Rhoads .

Not quite an A-leaguer, but a very good rock and metal band/musician, above 80% of all musicians. But lacks something to make the A-Leagues.

Motorhead was a cool band, but career openers, they are an example of B-leaguer.

A pop band that pretends to be a rock band, but is alleged to have faked their live performances pretending to play and lip sync

I went to the Stadium Tour, and I think I saw Mötley Fraüd, the bass player was playing stuff that was not mapping up to what was coming out of the mix.
