metal-archives (also known as Encyclopaedia Metallum: Metal Archives) is a user-edited website, established in 2002, which purports to be a heavy metal-focused database. Although the site has garnered a reputation over the years for being "elitist" and "strict" on what can/cannot be included, many bands listed there are actually folk, ambient, industrial, gothic rock and other "headbang worthy" music their site "rules" forbade, otherwise. When you couple this with the secretive personalities of those who moderate/administer everything over there, Metal Archives has the same credibility (and "metal-bility") as Milli Vanilli by the end of the day.
METALHEAD: Metal forums should not be run like a fascist regime! And some metalcore/nu-metal shit is making it beyond the radar here? Fuck it, I'm finding another site to frequent that is actually METAL, not "metal-archives".

Phoenix, Arizona's most ghetto neighborhood, and one of the MOST ghetto in the whole Phoenix metro area. If Los Angeles has South Central and NYC has the South Bronx, Phoenix has Sunnyslope. Distinguishable by a large "S" on a man-made mountain nearby. If you're not looking to join a street gang, buy pigeon fajitas or take solicitations from leathery 50-year-old hookers, you'll probably be bored out of your mind. Indeed, there's nothing particularly "sunny" about "the slope" (Unless you count the sky's reflection on algae-ridden backyard pools.)

Gal: That's a no brainer, hun.

1. Music made for and bought by mall-going teenagers/young adults, characterized by a high level of angst and a low level of sincerity. The term dates back to the late 1990s when groups like Korn, Tool, Limp Bizkit, Slipknot and the Deftones dominated rockradio and were incorrectly labeled "metal" by fans and the news media. In 2001-2002, these "nu-metal" bands took a nosedive in popularity and the metalcore rush took over, thus beginning the second generation of mallcore. While metalcore has more similarities to heavy metal than its precursor, the common aesthetics - angst, faux rebellion and generally repetitive musicianship - remain entact.

The "nu-metal" years were characterized by baggy pants, pocket chains, dredlocks and long goatees, while the "metalcore" era utilised unkempt hair, thick-rimmed glasses, tight pants and t-shirts of a "true" metal band that the wearer has never listened to.
