While docked at a harbor in India, he encountered Kilik, a young man searching for Soul Edge. Unfortunately, this proved to be a star-crossed encounter. The hidden evil resident within Kilik attracted unwanted attention from a horde of monsters. The ensuing battle took the lives of Maxi's crew, who were helpless against these nightmarish foes. Kilik and Maxi were the only survivors of the bloody carnage.
