Pulse

A marble-sized ball, only visible on the seventh plane or higher, that floats around an area and returns to its caster. Its color upon return signals the strength of the magic in the area, the lowest being blue, and the highest being indigo.

I dodged the Pulse that came over my head easily and continued on my flight.

Irony

When something is both unexpected and fitting simultaneously. While most definitions simply say irony is something unexpected, no definitions ever state that there's a certain element to irony that catches your eye nine times out of ten.

Asking For It

The final frontier of denial, "asking for it" is a mentality people use to justify the world being less horrible than it is. Most commonly it is used to pretend that a rape victim 'subliminally' or 'subtly' gave consent, but it can also be used in context to say someone who leaves a quarter on the ground is just as guilty as the thief who steals it of the crime, having 'tempted' the criminal or perpetrator. In extremist cases, such as a few sects of Muslim religion, some women are forced to cover their hair to prevent 'tempting' men.

Pertaining to sex, it is statistically estimated that about 1/3 men buy in Britain conform to the "asking for it" mentality.

"Nah, man, she was asking for it."

Variation of a Convulsion. Seemingly less severe, creating less of a mess.

Inferno

A spell that envelopes its target in green flames; however, unlike a Detonation, it is more of a burning fire than an explosive one. Useful for burning people with magical resilience, whose clothes can still burn.

"It could have been an Inferno, except that the edges around the hole aren't singed."

A spell that envelops the target in invisibility, unlike a Glamour which disguises it.

I hid in the corner and sent up a Concealment over myself.
