A term used when something expires, dies, stops working, quits, breaks down. People from other countries look stupefied and wonder where "it" went when used in context by an American.
Bill: What happened to your lawn mower?

Mike: It went up on me last week!

Bill: I guess you have to go out and buy another one!

An abstract conversational reference that a person makes to an event that happened before their time to a current event - trying to draw a comparison that leaves the listener in question as to what was being compared.
Pop: I am so tired of paying these taxes, we need to throw the tea into the harbor and show them we're serious.

Jimmy: Why is Pop talking about tea?

Mary: Don't worry- he's having a Sputnik Moment.

This is the act of passing gas in public and quickly walking away so you don't get blamed for the offense.

Homeless Leg Syndrome

The syndrome where you see a homeless person limp or hobble around at a stoplight with his sign hoping for a handout- then when no one is looking he/she walks normally without a limp or impairment.
Hey bro- I saw you elsewhere and you were not limping and I saw you a little while ago and you looked fine- and now I see that you have Homeless Leg Syndrome.
