Refers to the once-great radio station known as WLIR, which used to broadcast in the New York City area and was one of the first radio stations in the United States to play bands like U2, The Police, The Cure, The Smiths, Depeche Mode and others. One of the last good commercial radio stations.

extensive garbage time

Phrase perfected by Marv Albert, referring to a basketball game in which the winning team's lead is so great, that the mere phrase "garbage time" does not do it justice. This is the part of the game where both teams have emptied their benches and are playing out the clock, but even more so than in just conventional "garbage time."

Marv Albert: "And we are now in extensive garbage time. The Knicks lead the Bulls 127 to 40."

Derogatory term with alien connotations for a member of the Muslim faith.

souvlaki

Souvlaki is a well-known Greek dish made with chunks of meat grilled on a skewer, very similar to a shish kabob. The meat is usually pork, but other meats are sometimes used instead, like chicken or lamb.

Can be eaten plain on the stick (kalamaki), in a sandwich (usually pita bread), with tsatsiki or yogurt sauce, tomato and onions. Sometimes lettuce and paprika are added, or even a few french fries.

Souvlaki is related to but is not the same as a gyro (yeeros).

I'll have one souvlaki kalamaki please.

Aside from the above definitions, a jock is also another way to refer to a DJ or presenter on the radio.

Combines a derogatory word for homosexuals (gayass) with a general-usage insult (motherfucker) to form the versatile phrase gayass motherfucker.

To lash or whip somebody with a cane. Typically very painful. Often found in BDSM scenarios where the dominant canes the submissive.

Mindy received a sound caning at the hands of her master.
