shounen ai

Bunneah was half right, but the prepubesent boys genre is refurred to as Syouta (Shota to American fans)

Shounenai, like Tanbi, is no longer written. It was replaced by BL (Boys' Love) which are much more likely to have happy endings & have less drama.

Japanese girls will litteraly roll their eyes at you if they hear you say shounenai ai instead of BL.

chibi

A Japanese slang word know around the world. It's a combination of Bi & Chisai; meaning Small/Beautiful. If a Chibi is not pretty, it's refurred toas SD or Super Deformed. There are 2 kinds of chibis; stubby chibis with no limbs (think Powerpuff girls) & regular chibis, which resemble noseless children.

Chibis are small & beautiful, babies are super deformed.

Manshon

An apartment with 2 to 4 rooms, one bathroom, & a kitchen.

There are, for the most part, 3 kinds of apartments; Studio, Manshon, & Penthouse or 'Pent'.

bishounen

The art of bishounen will never die. While they were a key role in Shounenai & all of it's predecessors, it's much less common in modern BL, especially anything Be X Boy produces.

Of course, bishounen is a loosely used term in America used for a pretty boy of any age. Bisyouta or Bishouta is a cute little boy & Biseinen is an attractive man while bishounen really refurs to teen boys with effeminate beauty.

For you men out there, most chicks in Japan PREFUR girly looking men. Look at Gackt & Izam, they had & still have girls crawling all over them.

Eroica Yori Ai wo Komette started off Biseinen; the men had femmish faces & they were tall, thin, & had tight flamboyant clothing. These days they look more masculine, have grown shorter & more muscely & their hands aren't nearly as slender.

Parasite single

A parasite Single is someone who is single, no plans for marriage any time soon, not dating, still living with parents. Most parasingles don't quit this lifestyle until their late 30s, early 40s.

The term started in Japan, comming from a 1997 Japanese horror movie Parasite Eve & backed up by best-seller book by Masahiro Yamada in 1999.
