Top definition
Instantaneous and convulsive wokeness that overcomes a person like a chest-burster from the movie Alien. It usually happens in response to the outrage headline du jour, and often coupled with wokenesia.
The reporter found out about Jeff Bezos' seemingly small donation for the Australian fires and had a wokespasm before fact checking Bezos' other charitable contributions. Even if the outrage is justified, it is still a wokespasm because no effort was made to consider all the facts before the convulsions of wokeness overtook the reporter.

USAGE NOTE: Although wokeness and wokespasms are often seen as progressive and libtard afflictions, conservatives also exhibit plenty of wokeness and have wokespasms. For instance, it is common to see conservatives provide a whataboutism in response to a wokespasm; and their whataboutism is often a wokespasm in response to a conveniently fabricated outrage du jour, or even a past event suddenly become outrage. Sometimes they are also straw man arguments. On the other hand, wokespasms often quickly turn into what a Trumpster era conservative would consider fake news. Wing nuts on both sides are guilty of wokespasms.
