Torping is a penguin character and the official mascot of the Linux Communities. It was created on 7th of May 2017 as the relative of Tux, the original mascot created in 1996 for the Linux Kernel. The meaning of Torping can be derived from Linus Torvalds penguin. Another explanation can be Tor (anonymity network) and ping (the network utility used to test reachability)
