thwacked is the condition your mind is left in after habitual drug use even after sobering up. a thwacked individual will behave differently than they would have if they had never consumed drugs, the most common being drug seeking behavior AKA fiending but also lack of common sense, decreased intuition, degraded performance, etc. opioid use disorder is a an example of a thwacked condition but ALL drugs (from weed to wellbutrin) have the potential to thwack you one way or another if you fail to moderate usage. the only treatment is time but in some cases prolonged drug use may leave you with permanent brain damage and you will be forever thwacked.
