Top definition
this phenomenon occurs in the 1st generation children of immigrant parents who's origins are from sub-saharan Africa.

this phenomenon has two phases, the build up and the realisation. the build up is the growing up part, a child will grow up being frustrated on why their parents act unreasonably and offer no explanation, over the years this frustration builds up until the first realisation phase. the realisation phase is caused by experiencing the world with mature eyes, a child will realise that that their parents actually did what they did for no reason or, on the off chance, for little reason but either way they realise that what they did is the reason for who you are and all that pent up frustration is now for nothing. but this won't solve anything though, they'll continue having problems with their parents but every now and again they'll stop to appreciate them for all they've sacrificed.
oh and if the parent doesn't speak fluently of the language of the land then the child will realise that the language gap doesn't make the immigrant parent less intelligent and they're just as smart/smarter as the child.
