Along with 'Pull the trigger!', 'Take the shot' is a catchphrase used by those participating in the Patty Party. Though most often used by Patty Partiers acknowledging the meme, it is also shouted from afar at Rooney Mara, to remind her of her origins in the block.
The Patty Party is a celebration of Rooney "Trishalicious Patricia Patsy Patrice The Trish" Mara (born Patricia Rooney Mara), an American screen actress. Mara became an internet meme in early 2016, after a 2011 YouTube video resurfaced of Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson referring to Mara as "Trish". The meme was further developed under the hashtag "pattygate2k16", when several Tumblr users discovered that Mara's whole stage name is, in fact, a last name (her mother's maiden name being Rooney).

Though it is unclear under what circumstances the phrase was coined, it must be noted that those who use it in everyday life are in acknowledgement of Mara's true identity, that stripped of stardom she is just 'Patty from the block', and agree that 'Patty brings the party'.
Person 1: Look! There's Rooney Mara!
Person 2: Hey, Rooney! Take the shot!
Person 1: I don't think she heard.
Person 2: Nah, she did. Ol' Trish just doesn't want to remember the block.

Dan: "Yeah, I'd take a shot in the mouth in order to give her the rectal thermometer.

If you're asking Urban Dictionary whether or not you should take a shot, you shouldn't take another shot. Honestly, you are DRUNK beyond all recognition.
Person A: "You seeing this dude? They're smacking "should i take another shot" into Google and just clicking on the first link that comes up."
Person B: "Holy fuck, they're shattered. They DO NOT need another shot."

Do you want to take a shot at the title?
Is what you say if someone hits you. As you might have inadvertently angered them, you say "okay, I'll give you that one for free" insinuating that the next one will cost you.
My dad's new wife pissed off a bikey. He had words with her, and I might add 'not very nice one's'. So my Dad picked up a bar stool and wrapped it around the guy's head. (Do you want to take a shot at the title? Did not apply here in this instance) So he had to lay low for awhile till the bikey got over it.
