Insulting someone after they turn down your advances; invariably a sign of fragility and rage. Infinitive form: "to sourgrape."

The word is derived from Aesop: "Driven by hunger, a fox tried to reach some grapes hanging high on the vine but was unable to, though he leaped with all his strength. As he went away, the fox remarked 'Oh you aren't even ripe yet! I don't need any sour grapes.'"
Person 1: You're gorgeous. Can I have your number?
Person 2: Thanks but no. I'd rather not.
Person 1: You're ugly and nobody would ever want your number!
