Any sharp throwing weapon used in the martial art of Ninjutsu. Includings things such as kunai (throwing knives, darts, needles) and shaken ("ninja stars", which by the way dont have to have 4 sides, i have one with 6).
In the darkness of the shadows, the assassin unsheathed several shuriken too rain down upon his target.

A portmanteau of carpe diem, a Latin phrase that means “Seize the Day!” and DM, which stands for Direct Messages. This word means seizing the day via DMs.

Shuriken-Throwing blades of the Ninja. Translates as basically Shu-Hand-Ri-released-Ken-blade. Hand released blade. Shuriken dont have *sides* as such, but have points. There were certain Shuriken particular to a tradition of Ninpo, ect Togakure Ryu used the classic 4 pointed Shuriken that appeared to be nearly square. There are only roughly 3 or 4 true designs of flat shuriken, commerciality has created many more. There are also Bo shuriken, which are practical iron darts. Each tradition has a specific specification ect one style would have 15cm Bo shuriken, another tradition would have 18 cm. Contrary to popular belief, Shuriken were not coated in poison. There was no need-Poison was dangerous to carry on sharp objects and difficult to aquire, and usually did not work quicly. Rust was the most dangerous aspect of a Shuriken-as throwing objects they were intended to distract and slow down as a ninja escaped ect, and would not fataly wound an enemy, but could penetrate. If rust got into the cut, it could be lethal. It is ironic that you can buy Shuriken through postal order these days-they used to be fuedal ninja famalies most closest guarded secrets.
