A phrase to describe someone who is cognitively degenerating. Synonym of "going off the deep end". Can have varying degrees of severity.

Reference to the song "Hey You" by Pink Floyd. The line "and the worms ate into his brain" makes no sense in an otherwise linear and literal narration throughout the lyrics.

The act of going out and buying stuff.

Going to a large chain store (Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target, etc...) and filling a cart with as much crap as possible, only to abandon it somewhere in the store.

The process by which individuals attempt to fill their spiritual and/or emotional emptiness through the acquisition and later consumption of material objects.
