A phrase used to describe the attempt of certain people (called "scam pumpers") to convince somebody, by promising enormous growth rates, to buy a particular crypto-currency. The beneficiary of this attempt, if successful, is the scam pumper himself.
"Hey John, come and join our telegram group "cryptopirates2k18" to recevie secret investment advice on cryptos."
"Nah, thx bro. I bet that is one of those many scam pump groups"

Scam texts are when you accidentally leave your phone with someone; mostly of the opposite sex and you have your friends text you for two reasons:
1. You want the person with your phone to think that you are popular and many people of all varieties are texting you.
2. You want to use that scam text as a base to see if the person with your phone is nosey and/or has gone through your phone knowing you have that scam text waiting for you.

Hey Jonathan, Chris, Tom, Jodi, and basically my whole address book in my phone, can you send me a "scam text" to my phone so my boyrfriend/girlfriend thinks I have lots of friends?

An act that turns out to be against one's own best interests. A self-scam can often be a decision which creates more problems than it solves, or that causes more trouble than it's worth. Often used to describe actions that turn out to be bad financially, or that are time-inefficient.
Buying a car is a huge financial liability. It is basically a self-scam.
I realized the module I created was more of a self-scam, because it adds a bunch of new bugs to the codebase.
Stress is just a self-scam. It does not speed up the work, and causes more mistakes.

Always be prepared. Out there
live many treacherous creatures out there that want
your money and fortunes of any shape or size. If its a
weird man with a strange tattoo or a duck with a gifted
mind there are many mercenaries out there. The Cute
Duckling Scam was founded by Nelson Eider a
Norwegian duck from a northern subclass duck clan
when he realized the influence of hatchlings on human
beings. Observing our kind through controlled
experiments, Nelson came to the conclusion that while
distracted with something the humans called "cute"
they often forgot about their surroundings and ignored
almost everything else. Thus leading Nelson to the fact
that this would leave their valuables unguarded. Nelson
had trouble accomplishing this due to the fact that
Viking, at the time, carried only a few articles of
currency on them and in safe pockets. Realizing this
the duck resorted to robbery. He would distract shop
owners with his children and then take whatever he
thought was needed. His followers in the Americas
were able to work the original purpose of the Cute
Duckling Scam, which is stealing money from the
unsuspecting human who happens to be conveniently
mesmerized by the ducklings carefully stationed by the
parent duck. Even after his death his lessons and
beliefs continued to inspire not only ducks but there
other many bird relatives, including their rivals the
power hungry geese.
