A new and different type of queerbaiting that arose with the creation of canon f/f ships in which the pairing is overly hyped by the crew/media, is said to play a big part in the story, thus baiting queer people into being attached to the show, and ends up being sidelined (often to favour a new straight couple).
someone: have you heard about that new femslash ship, sanvers?
me: dude, it was so hyped up and now it’s been totally sidelined, classic case of neo queerbaiting.

When you're watching a show that only has cishet couples, but you ship the gay couples that you see, even though you know they will 100% not become canon.
Man, this show is so straight but the chemistry between the girls is amazing!
It's consensual queerbaiting, consent is what matters

Person 2: No, she's just a straight girl queerbaiting to make the LGBT community look bad.
