a word used by antis and gatekeepers in fandom in relation to characters or pairings/ships that they personally do not like. often used as an excuse to attack and gaslight shippers and fans who do like the character/ship.

sometimes the excuse for calling a fictional thing "problematic" is that it's abusive, incestuous, or has a large age gap. or one of them is a villain. or two characters are enemies (or they used to be). or or none of these at all. the excuses are numerous, and many of them unfounded assertions.

Gay, or at the very least bi, but in a closeted environment where you can’t just be like “I’m gay” so you say “I’m Problematic” instead and your other problematic friend just nods and is like “same”
