Philadelphia isn't just a city that lies between the shadows of New York and Washington, it is a city where the Eagles are the topic of dinner conversation year round. It is where a meal consists of a cheesesteak, Natty light, soft pretzels,
and Tasty Kakes for dessert. It is where there is a Wawa on every corner, and you look forward to the 1st day of Spring when Rita's gives out free "wooder" ice. It is where you know it's a hoagie, not a sub and the shore, not the beach. Most importantly, where everyone is brothers and it is ok to say hello to someone you don't know if they are a birds fan. That is Philadelphia, the city of Brotherly Love... Outsiders will never understand

Like any large city, it is hard to define Philadelphia in just one way. It has its rich neighborhoods like Society Hill and it has a lot of poor neighborhoods. Just read the history of Philadelphia and you will respect the city and realize other cities don't even come close. No, its not fancy or glitzy, but thats why I believe it is a great city. It has integrity, like the hard working people in the city. In the USA, it might be the most historically influential city. It was the first capital, and was home to the first hospital, zoo, stock exchange, public library, public grammar school, public volunteer fire department, university, bank, computer, modern sky scraper, and the list goes on. Still want to disrespect this city?

-And by the way, the only reason "The Real World" initially cancelled shooting in Philly was because of the Unions. With that worked out, it is coming back and filming this spring.

A place where you will get beat up if you make fun of the eagles.

Anyone who complains that Philly is all ghetto has obviously never been there. Yes, a large amount of the city is ghetto, but it's not any different in the Bronx, Brooklyn, or even Manhattan. I go to school in the Bronx and the borough is about 70% ghetto. Even in NY, you just can't escape it. Half of Brooklyn is places like Brownsville, Bed-Stuy, East New York which are no better than North Philly. In fact, I think Philly is a cooler city in many ways. New York is so big, there's no room for city pride or unity among residents. Philly has some cool architecture too and lots of interesting neighborhoods

The City that the Brothers Love.

William Penn's Greene Countrie Towne. Philadelphia is an old, odd collection of neighborhoods. Many residents have never left their ZIP code. In fact, some of them don't even know about ZIP codes. TBH, I lived in Manayunk for 14 years and loved it. Lived in West Philly for three and it was fab.

Serviced by a good transit system if you know how to read a map. In general laid out well. Driving is an art, however this is due to people on the roads who aren't city dwellers. The city dwellers drive fine.

Some of the best restaurants on the East Coast. Fresh food everywhere. No need to eat in - cheap good food is all around you.

Best place I can think of to have home base if you have to travel a lot for work. You can leave your house unlocked for years in some 'hoods and your neighbors will watch out for you. Of course, they also know who you are sleeping with, but hey, it's a rowhouse!

Philadelphia. The city that causes hysteria within outsiders because they will never understand. The city that brings up controversy among others because once again, they will never understand. The city that is so well-known and amazing in every aspect of the word that brings the attention of "haters" to discriminate upon us because of their jealousy of our awesomeness.

The city that does not care what yuppies from other parts of our country have to say.

We are the city made up of cultural diversity and unity. We are the city made up of neighborhoods and struggle. We are the strongest among the United States...and nobody will ever change that.
