A Parasociopath uses parasocial relationships to enable, justify, and lie about sociopathic behavior. Parasocial influence allows parasociopathic online "influencers" to manipulate, lie, break laws, act impulsively, and lack regard for their own safety or the safety of others in order to entertain, gaslight, harrass, and cyberbully others leveraging their "followers' affection" to deflect criticism and legitimize their behaviors.

Parasocial interaction is an exposure that garners interest in a persona and then becomes a parasocial relationship after repeated exposure to the media persona causes the media user to develop illusions of intimacy, friendship, and identification. Media personas have a significant amount of influence over media users informing the way that they perceive life, their behaviors, and their purchasing habits. (Horton, D.; Wohl, R. (1956). "Mass communication and para-social interaction: Observation on intimacy at a distance". Psychiatry. 19 (3): 215–229.)

Sociopathy is antisocial personality disorder, which causes individuals to lie, break laws, act impulsively, and lack regard for their own safety or the safety of others. (Healthline. (2021). "Sociopath". Healthline.com.)
