A type of paragraph, used in journalism, that summarizes the background and significance of an event. It generally comes after the lead but before any details, and it explains the context of the event/article to the reader.
Without this nutgraph, I would never have understood the rest of this article. Hell, I wouldn't have bothered to keep reading!
