A marthal's purpose is to lure an unsuspecting romantic partner to crippling depression and darkness until it seems that death is the only escape. In an effort to look un-intimidating, marthals often disguise themselves in the form of midgets, scrawny women, or scrawny midget women. Legend suggests a telltale sign of a marthal is when she blows up a bathroom so bad that even the neighbors can smell it. This is her evil leaking out after being repressed all day because it's too early in the relationship to let her true colors show.
