Top definition
A mythical creature with a lion's body, a man's face, a scorpion's tail, a bat's wings, and lots of rows of really sharp teeth. These guys usually don't get along with dragons. Personally, I'd side with the dragon if a manticore and a dragon got into a row, cause I way like dragons better. Oh yeah, manticores are usually orangey-colors.
The manticore had no friends, cause his face was weird-looking.

May 22 Word of the Day
A moment that is generally agreed to have had a significant influence on pop culture and everyday life. While the term was coined by Rose McGowan in context of the #MeToo movement, and is mostly associated with the K-pop community, the phenomenon is universal and a basic component of how culture works.

Real world events such as social/political movements, the election of a new U.S. President, major catastrophes and disasters, as well as entertainment such as movies, music and TV, can all function as cultural resets. Notable cultural resets in relatively recent memory include:

* The Beatles appearing on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964
* The Watergate scandal of 1974
* The release of Nevermind by Nirvana in 1991
* The September 11, 2001 attacks
* The election and inauguration of Barack Obama in 2009
* The COVID-19 pandemic
"The Nineties politically started with the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9, 1989 and the Soviet Union dissolving on December 26, 1991, and ended with both the 2000 Presidential election which saw the victory of George W. Bush and the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 which left people so stupefied that it functioned as something of a cultural reset button." - TV Tropes' article on the 1990s

Manticore- Greek, meaning "Man Eater"

The ultimate badass "mythical" creature. As described in "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" by Newt Salamander:
"The manticore is a highly dangerous Greek beast with the head of a man. the body of a lion, and the tail of a scorpian. As dangerous as the Chimaera (a rare Greek monster with a lion's head, a goat's body, and a dragon's tail), and as rare, the manticore is reputed to croon softly as it devours its prey. Manticore skin repels almost all known charms and the sting causes instant death."
In the foreword of the book, Albus "FABULOUS" Dumbledore admits they are badass.

J.K. Rowling has mentioned this incredible beast several times throughout the Harry Potter series. For example, in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the manticore is said to have escaped a trial because everyone was too scared to go near it.

The award winning movie "Manticore" (2005) is somewhat accurate in showing that the manticore is a badass creature, but it inaccurate in showing that the manticore can be destroyed.

All manticores are born into the super exclusive "BFC" led by two manticores living on Long Island, New York.

YOU BETTER HOPE TO GOD YOU NEVER CROSS A MANTICORE'S PATH. IT MAY BE THE LAST THING YOU EVER DO.
